Hi Tweeters,
Today, on a hawk class field trip, we observed a male American Kestrel catch and kill a small Garter Snake about 10" long. Seemed pretty early to me.
In addition, on Saturday, we saw a juvenile Northern Harrier actually fly into a widgeon flock in Blanchard, catch a duck in mid-air and kill it on the ground. In all my years, I have never seen a harrier actually kill a duck. Remarkable.
