Tweets,
Monday (2/20) the "red" Fox Sparrow made another appearance on Mull Rd on
eastern outskirts of Tenino (last observed 2 months ago, during the 1:00
hour both times). This is a fun bird to see, since it hangs out with a small
number of "sooties" for comparison. Features: immediately recognized by
overall paler appearance; prominent rust-stained-white spot below the cheek
punctuating a long, bold, pale malar stripe; reddish-brown tail above,
brightest at the base; rusty-brown on much of wing. Directions: east (north)
bound Hwy 507; left at Mull/Churchill Rd; 200 feet beyond Scatter Creek
bridge along the perpendicular wood post fenceline where there's been recent
mowing.
Good birding!
