Guy,

Let's try to stay on topic here. Rob Sandelin asks the perfectly legitimate
question: Is it appropriate to maintain artificial populations of Anna's
Hummingbird in the Pacific Northwest? And make no mistake; these are
artificial populations. Just how many Anna's Hummingbirds wintering in this
region do you feel are able to sustain themselves on what might be oozing
from sapsucker wells? Was your sighting even made during the winter?
Neither Rob nor I have expressed concerns about the Garry oak ecosystem, not
that there is really much to compare between people of a subsistence culture
buring land to feed themselves and you hanging a feeder to entertain
yourself.
