Has anyone considered that taking a kid for a walk in a natural area might
be the best way to win advocates for wild birds? My dad taking me for a
walk in natural area was how I became one. And he didn't have to manipulate
any ecosystems in the process.

There are few, if any, feeding enthusiasts who are members of the Alberta
Wilderness Association. And of the feeding enthusiasts I'm acquainted with,
I can think of only two whom I would consider advocates for wild birds.
>From my experience working in a wild bird feeding store, I can say that my
customers regarded wild birds more as backyard pets than ecosystem
components.
