Tweets,

Nancy & I decided to have a go at finding the Blue Jay near Discovery Park, arriving about 10 AM to find Curtis Pearson wandering the streets, not having seen it but having heard that it had been seen this morning (Saturday, Feb. 25) at the Visitor Center about 8:30 AM. No activity at 35th and Thurman and no jays at all for the first hour.

We hiked around until 11:30 when we at last heard it up Thurman between 32nd and 33rd, with a flock of about half a dozen Steller's Jays.

We got close up views a bit later at a peanut feeding operation off the alley between 34th and 34th just south of Thurman. Jays aren't always conspicuous and this guy does move around.

Gene Hunn.

PS: No luck finding the pygmy owls reported a few weeks back from the Shangri La Trail head on Cougar Mountain, but a Barred called this morning about 6:30 on the Red Town Trail near the Coal Creek crossing.
