Hello all,
Today in the cold we headed out to the west end of the county. Here are the
bird highlights of our day:
*American Pipit - 50+ along Gardena Rd.
Ferruginous Hawk - 1 adult along Byrnes Rd.
Glaucous Gull ----- 2 adults on the Walla Walla River delta
" " ---- 1 2nd year bird at the poop piles
American Wigeon - 2200+ - WWRd.
Dunlin - -------------82 on the delta
Mew Gull ---------- 1 - on the delta, 1 at Casey pond
Greater Scaup ----- 1800 birds at the port of Wallula
Lesser Scaup ------ 350 - port of Wallula
*Long-tailed Duck - 1 - port of Wallula
Canvasback - ------475 - port of Wallula
Redhead ----------- 12 - port of Wallula
Western Grebe ---- 20 off port of Wallula
Horned Grebe ----- 8 off port of Wallula
Common Goldeneye - 20 off port of Wallula
Burrowing Owl ------2 along Dodd rd.
Greater White-fronted Geese - 300+ at Casey pond
Tundra Swan - 4 birds on Casey pond and 10 over the railroad tracks on the
river.
*Lincoln's Sparrow - 1 bird on Iverson Rd.
Bald Eagle -------- 54 birds - Walla Walla county record for 1 day.
Barn Owl - 6
Great Horned Owl - 5
*County Year Birds - #'s 124,125,126!!
We enjoyed birding with Steve Mlodinow and Bob Flores - they will be posting
their sightings of some great birds!
