Dennis Rockwell reports the BARRED OWL first seen around New Year's in Two
Rivers Co Park is still being seen as of 27 Feb. Two Rivers is east of
Kennewick, Benton Co WA near the confluence of the Snake and Columbia
rivers. From WA 397 head east on Finley Road 1.5 miles to the parking area.
Park in the lot at the SE corner of the lagoon in the park. Walk east on the
nature trail; at the first fork stay left and walk another 100 ft. WA
DeLorme 39, C-8.

Two male EURASIAN WIGEONS were at Kiwanis Park in Lewiston, Nez Perce Co ID
on 23 Feb, according to Kent Henderson and Keith Carlson. Also, a lone 1st
year male LONG-TAILED DUCK was seen on 21 Feb. To get there from the north
end of Lewiston, follow US 12 across the Clearwater River and then stay
right past the first traffic light. At the next light, which is 18th Street,
turn right and follow the bypass until it ends at Snake River Avenue. Turn
right onto Snake River. The first parking area on the right is Kiwanis Park.

An adult MEW GULL was seen 24 Feb at the Moses Lake spillways in Grant Co WA
by Doug Schonewald (WA DeLorme 69, D-6). Also, the minima CACKLING GOOSE
seen
earlier in the week by Bob Flores was still present at Neppel Landing on
Moses Lake.

On 25 Feb, Mike and MerryLynn Denny, Steve Mlodinow and Bob Flores saw some
good birds in western Walla Walla Co WA. At the Walla Walla River delta: 2
ad GLAUCOUS GULLS and a MEW GULL. At the nearby Port of Wallula: LONG-TAILED
DUCK. On the "poop piles": a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, 4 GLAUCOUS GULLS, 4
GLAUCOUS-WINGED GULLS. At McNary NWR: a single EURASIAN WIGEON and a minima
CACKLING GOOSE. The Walla Walla River Delta can be accessed 0.1 mile north
of Madame Dorian Park. There's a pull-out along US 12 at milepost 306.9 and
a path to the delta. The poop piles are about 4 miles north of the jct of US
12 and US 730 along US 12. There's a nice pull-out at US 12 milepost 303. WA
DeLorme 40, D-1.

Ron McCluskey reports a SNOWY OWL between Wilbur and Grand Coulee, Lincoln
Co WA on 25 Feb. The bird was along WA 174 near mile post 33.

On 25 Feb Theresa Mathis, Randy and Elaine Hill, and Barb and Doug
Schonewald found some good birds on the Waterville Plateau in Douglas and
Grant counties WA. They report several large flocks of SNOW BUNTINGS,
perhaps as many as 500 birds, along road F NW north of Sprauer Road (WA
DeLorme 84, B-1.5). Also along road F NW were a total of 8 SNOWY OWLS, seen
between roads 11 & 12 NW. Also, a LAPLAND LONGSPUR was along Heritage Road.
They also spied a LONG-TAILED DUCK on Banks Lake while driving along WA 155.
