Hey Tweeters,
Colin Thoreen and I did the "downtown area" of the Seattle CBC yesterday. For the most part it was uneventful - I hoped from something amazing out on the sound but didn't find anything out of the ordinary. I was slightly surprised to see a lone male Hooded Merganser out on the water at the magnolia marina and a group of five Black Turnstones at the end of the jetty at the marina. We also had a potential owl that 30 crows harassed but we failed to find buried in the overgrown slope on the south side of magnolia. The construction for the Seattle Art Museum Olympic Sculpture Garden made it hard to get near the water in some areas and got rid of some of the few trees that offered "habitat." Other than that it was a clear, dry morning full of plenty of birds out on the water and Rock Pigeons and House Sparrows everywhere. Happy New Year and to new year of birding for everyone.
