Hello All,
This morning Ken Knittle, Alan Richards, MerryLynn and I started out our New
Years by driving out to see The Frog Hollow SNOWY OWL and sure enough there
it was perched a half mile out in the stubble field at the junction of
Forest and Frog Hollow. Other species of special interest were.........

BARRED OWL........Two Rivers Co. Park, Benton Co.
Greater White-fronted Geese....4 birds at the fishing pond in Columbia Park,
Benton Co.
White-throated Sparrow......1 bird at Two Rivers Co. Park, Benton Co.
D.C. Cormorant..........397 birds below Ice Harbor Dam
Am. White Pelican........74 birds below Ice Harbor Dam on the Walla Walla
shoreline.
Common Merganser.....327 birds below Ice Harbor Dam.
Herring Gull.........31 birds at Lower Monumental Dam
Tundra Swan........5 birds just west of Wind Dust Park
Long-eared Owl......3 birds at Wind Dust Park
LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL.....1ad. at Lower Monumental Dam on the Walla Walla
Co. end of the dam.
California Gull....400+ birds above Lower Monumental Dam. This will be the
last report on gulls, mergs or cormorants at any dams if these birds are
shot at or disturbed in any way by Wildlife Services as a result of this
report.
Bewicks Wren.....1 bird at Washtucna
Mew Gull.......1 ad. below Little Goose Dam in Columbia Co. & Whitman Co..
Canyon Wren.......4 birds along the cliffs below Little Goose Dam.
Gray-crowned Rosy Finches were noticably absent from below Little Goose Dam.
All of the Cliff Swallow nests that they roost in during the winter months
have been shot away for target practice by locals.

Overall this was a great day in the field with a number of great birds
located.
