At the Montlake Fill yesterday we saw a dabbler that
had a profile just like a Mallard, and in fact was paired
with a male Mallard. But it was all black except for a
white bib in the front below its neck.

The bill was wrong.for it have been a female Black Scoter.

Perhaps a domestic variety gone astray?
