Yesterday (1-2-05), while driving past the Skagit Wildlife Refuge on Fir
Island, my wife and I spotted a "small Canada Goose" among the thousands
of Snow Geese that were present. It turned out to be a Cackling Goose
(Minima subspecies). This was a first for both of us and a productive day
in spite of the fact that we weren't really out to do any serious
birding!
