Hi Gang

I had close encounter with a Red-winged Blackbird this morning that was a
lot closer than normal. As soon as I stopped on the bridge over the Golden
Gardens Pond He flew across the pond straight at my face, peeling away
about a foot from my eyes. It was great to see his epaulets up close like
that. Anyway he peeled away at the last second and stopped inches from my
hand on the railing. After a call or two from him I held out my finger and
he took a couple of bites. Not liking the taste of my cotton gloves he flew
to a nearby bush.

So, obviously people are feeding them and this one at least equates people
with food. Not a good thing but I admit to being tempted to bring some seed
down next time I visit.
