Tweets - 2006 at Marymoor got off to a great start today. The weather was
fine, if a touch cold. We did have the inconvienience that the water levels
are so high that we couldn't walk the slough trail all the way to the
boardwalk (even with 15" boots), and had to go around the east side. Eight
of us birded under partly cloudy skies, and there was a LOT more activity
than the last two weeks. Highlights:

Mallard Pair copulating in the slough
Cooper's Hawk Several looks at prob. 2 diff. juveniles
Merlin? Possibly Peregrine - flying down slough
Northern Saw-whet Owl Matt and I had 2 just after 7AM
Northern Shrike One in East Meadow
Bewick's Wren Many were SINGING

We also had, maybe, a female BARROW'S GOLDENEYE, a species we don't often
see at Marymoor. She flushed from the slough near the entrance bridge, and
we only had a few seconds to watch her fly away. The bill seemed
extensively yellow-orange, however.

For the day, 58 species (plus the BAGO?)
