I've been doing waterfowl surveys for the past several days. Yesterday, I saw what was probably the
same Great Egret that Matthew Pike reported, on Pattison Lake. I talked to a woman who lives on Long
Lake who said that a Great Egret was on Long Lake for a couple of weeks in December, also likely the
same bird since Pattison and Long Lake are hydrologically connected and very close to one another.

I've seen one Eurasian Wigeon on each of Lawrence Lake, Long Lake, and Pattison Lake. Wood Ducks
continue to be winter residents on some lakes in Thurston County. I saw 19 Wood Ducks on Long Lake
and 19 on Pattison Lake, yesterday, January 4th. Canvasback seem to hard to find anymore. I saw 45
on Lawrence Lake on Tuesday, 5 on Pattison Lake yesterday.

It seems like there's more Yellow-rumped Warblers around this winter. I saw them in 3 locations
in the McAllister Creek valley during Christmas Bird Count, December 18th and saw one on Capitol
Lake last Monday.
