Birds in the News, edition #42 is now available. As
you have probably guessed from the edition number,
this series has been ongoing as a weekly publication
for nearly one year now. I am thinking this should
more properly be known as "volume 1, number 42", since
I will probably continue it indefintely.

This week's edition is the biggest one I've ever put
together .. not sure why, but there were lots of
stories published about birds in the news. Especially
pleasing to me were the large number of "birds in
science" stories, but I also linked to a bunch of
streaming stories that I heard on National Public
Radio in the past ten days or so, and bunches of
stories about the Christmas Bird Count. As always,
feel free to post unpublished CBC results in the
comments section (some are already posted there), and
email links to news stories to me. As an added bonus,
the featured bird picture is a lovely photograph of a
horned puffin, Fratercula corniculata, and I also
included a link to a really sweet holiday gift card
