Results now seem final for the Everett CBC, held back on Dec. 17. It was
pretty much a clear, cold day (temps were as low as 22 F); 38 observers
detected 136 species, just one short of last year's best, and there were a
few notable finds:

GREEN HERON 1 (Richardson party, covering Arlington airport/Stilly drainage)
Cinnamon Teal 3 (Marysville STP)
Golden Eagle 1i (n. end of Spencer I.)
Sora 1 (Spencer I)
SLATY-BACKED GULL 1 (Everett STP, not relocated since)
SNOWY OWL 1 (n. end Jetty I, boat party)
BARN SWALLOW 2 (Spencer I bridge)
TREE SWALLOW 6 (Spencer I bridge)
Com. Yellowthroat 1 (just s. of Spencer I bridge)

As at Sequim, the freeze seemed to concentrate some of the dabbling ducks
down low--we were record high for both Am. and Eur. Wigeon, and for Redhead
(5) and Lesser Scaup (1102). Mallard and N. Pintail were near records.
Other species in record-high territory were Bufflehead, Bald Eagle,
Peregrine, Killdeer, Wilson's Snipe, Least Sandpiper (78), Thayer's and GW
Gulls, and Pigeon Guillimot. Gulls were impressively varied (8 species) and
numerous at the Everett STP.

Among passerines, Bushtit, Hermit Thrush, Spotted Towhee, Golden-crowned
Sparrow, Lincoln's Sparrow (83), and Am. Goldfinch (164) were in record
quantities.

Notable misses included Eared Grebe, Black Scoter, Marbled Murrelet, N.
Saw-whet Owl, BT Pigeon, Cedar Waxwing, Swamp Sparrow, and Red Crossbill.
