Tweets,

I was a guest presenter for a community college Intro to Biology (for
non-science students) class talking about fun facts about local (TriCities)
birds and using field guides to identify them. After the class (less than 1
hr) we went to McNary NWR for practice. By the teacher's rules, I was not
allowed to identify the birds, just help them find the group and let the
students come up with an id. Well, the black bird with the white bill that
was "not a duck" in front of us was in the rail/crane area of the book. One
of the students was very excited to identify the bird as a Caribbean Coot.

Our most fun yard bird is an American Coot. After what was a lot of snow
for the TriCities, we had a quick melt and there were a few puddles on the
lawn along the driveway. Not a bad yard bird in a typical suburban yard.
