Although I deleted the message about birds, frogs, etc. adapting to a small man made water resource (as I deleted most of the other messages to save storage space), it stuck in my mind. So hence this little contribution to the subject.

When I was a lad in Madison, WI, during the late 1940's, the next door neighbor had a goldfish pond built next to a miniature mossy cliff, etc., complete with a bbucket of water lilies - and lots of healthy goldfish. Well, to make a long story short, it was claimed by a B.Kingfisher, who perched on a nearby sapling. If it wasn't for being a celebrity among us neighborhood brats, that kingfisher would surely have been shot, along with several gray squirrels who messed up the lawn areas under the hickory trees. (And how did that male Baltimore Oriole die, I wonder?)
