For the last several days, we've had three Lesser Canada Geese (parvipes) visiting Vashon. These are the first non-Great Basin Canada Geese that I have seen on the island despite regular checking of geese flocks over the last few years. Several sub species probably stop by in migration or in wandering around the Puget Sound lowlands but they haven't been noticed. These are about mid-island, hanging out in the NE corner of a flooded field at the corner of 220th and Old Mill Road. >From Vashon Highway, a turn westbound at the four way stop at 204th will take you there if you stay on the main road as it twist and turns a few times eventually morphing into 220th.
