I stumbled onto the following interesting website a while back, while Googling for the White-bellied Woodpecker. For example, it lists all the various subspecies of that species, of which there are quite a few, some possibly destined to be declared full (allo-)species.

But the text is in Thai, for the most part. ...lots of asian bird photos.
