After a long wet day of RED-SHOULDERED HAWK searching, the bird made an appearance at about 4:00PM. It was worth the wait.

It was about where Paul Hicks had it on Jan 8, .1m west of where Van Dyke Rd intersects Independence Road, southwest of Rochester, in Thurston County. Independence Road was flooded and impassible today between Rochester and the RSHA location, so I reached the location by traveling on Lincoln Creek Road, where the WHITE-TAILED KITE was again today at milepost 9. My old DeLorme shows that Lincoln Creek Road is in 2 pieces, but this road does connect and runs thru the valley. See page 45 in DeLorme. One way to go is to take Prather Road which is west of Centralia, then Michigan Hill Rd, then Lincoln Creek Road to Independence Road.
