~ Myself and other responsible waterfowl hunters in WA overwhelmingly support this bill . The increased fines, etc. have been a long time coming. The use of lead shot for waterfowling has been illegal in WA since 1988, and nationally since 1991. It is currently illegal for all bird hunting on a majority of the state and federal land around the country. There is no excuse for using lead in waterfowl hunting situations as there are plenty of nontoxic alternatives available on the market now. In the future the use of any lead shot for hunting will likely be eliminated in all wild bird hunting situations.
