Birded Skamania County on Sunday. With the water high and muddy it made for fewer birds than normal, however there were a few birds. At the fish hatchery below Bonneville Dam along the Columbia River there was a third year Western Gull sitting on the concrete where the fish are released from the hatchery. This is a tough bird away from the coast

At Stevenson at the park just west of town was one Greater White-fronted Goose in with the begging domestic geese. There use to be more Greater White-fronted Geese hanging out in this flock, but glad to see still one there. I also checked off shore from the dock at Stevenson for diving birds hoping that the Long-tailed Duck seen the day before across the river in Oregon in case it was mixed in with them. The only diving birds noted however, were Horned and Western Grebes, both scaup species, Bufflehead, Common Goldeneyes, and coots. It was quite rainy, which is normal for the gorge this time of year.
