Although Snowy Owls are showing up in larger numbers in western Washington,
a few have been sighted locally.
Heidi Newsome reported a SNOWY OWL at Saddle Mountain National Wildlife
Refuge on January 5. It flew across Road L SW over Route 243 toward the
Vernita Bridge.

Rare inland, an adult WESTERN GULL was on the ice just west of Bateman
Island on January 7.

The BARRED OWL found in Two Rivers County Park in Kennewick on December 31
continued through at least January 12 as reported by Dennis Rockwell.

On January 14, Ray Johnson found a SNOWY OWL on a utility pole in the Horse
Heaven Hills. It was seen south of Cemetery Road along Tyacke Road.
Observers were not able to relocate the bird the next day.

Nancy LaFramboise reported a large flock of Cedar Waxwings feeding on
berries at 2444 Harris Street in North Richland with 2 BOHEMIAN WAXWINGS
among them. A TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was across the street.
