Today from 12:20-12:35pm there was a large immature Gyrfalcon at the Hayton
Reserve on Fir Island, Skagit County. The bird was first sitting along the
dike, then was harried by a couple of harriers, at which point it flew
within 25 feet of Fred Boesche and me to land in the cottonwoods next to the
parking area.
There were 2 Snowy Owls at Port Susan Bay and 1 off Jensen access. Perhaps a
dozen Short-eared Owls put on a show at West-90 at sunset. We could not find
the Bewick's Swans or Pacific Golden-Plover but it was still a nice day.
