The dipper was my "nemesis bird" for a time, until pretty recently (that is,
it's a common bird that EVERYONE ELSE has seen, but I hadn't, despite
looking for them regularly).

I got my first dipper sighting at, of all places, Carkeek Park, up in North
Seattle. I was walking along the salmon creek looking for redds, and this
little bird flew past, landed on a rock, bobbed a little, and then walked
off into, and under, the water. "A DIPPER!" I hollered. I pulled out my
phone, called my wife, and announced that I'd just seen a dipper, and she
said that was nice but she was in a meeting. (She's seen plenty.)

I'm not sure what my current nemesis bird should be -- I never DID see those
snow buntings over at Discovery Park....
