Just got in from spending yesterday and this morning looking for owls, geese
and swans. I read with interest Charlie's note on west 90 SHORT-EARED OWLs
at sunset last night. I was there with him at the time and the most owls
anyone said they saw at one time was four and I could only see three of
those. There were at least a dozen NORTHERN HARRIERs so maybe he was just
copied the wrong number. I spent all day working for photos at that spot
with no rain. Loved it!

Checked Jensen and Hayton farms accesses early this morning. Missed the GYR
but the SNOWY OWL was at Hayton. The tide was in and quite high. Saw the
real pretty almost red RED-TAILED HAWK at headquarters.

At Port Susan Bay at the end of Boe road, I was surprised to find only a
turnaround with all the surroundings posted. I could see the bay and some
tideland and by trespassing about 5' I could see a SNOWY OWL to the north. I
could also see some TRUMPETER SWANS and SNOW GEESE in the bay. About the
time I got there the geese all flew from the bay to a field inland. I
couldn't even guess how many thousand there were but I will post a photo
today or tomorrow of about 20% of them and maybe someone can figure it out.
