Dear All,

I've just this minute taken hold of Naturalised Birds of the World by
Christopher Lever. It's published by T&AD Poyser and retails for ?40.00 (I
got mine from WildSounds, www.wildsounds.com via the post, for ?36.00
including post and packing).

The book is an update on the author's previous 1987 heavy tome. This version
is slightly smaller and good half less thick. However, I must simply enthuse
over its quality!

It really is a most beautiful book and for anyone interested in naturalised
birds, as I am (most here will know of my profound interest in the
distribution of African waxbills in the Neo-tropics and elsewhere) I am
already thoroughly recommending it. The book describes "when, where, how and
by whom the world's naturalised birds were introduced to places outside
their natural ranges, and discusses the economic and ecological impacts each
species has had in its naturalised range."

One instantly knows when one is in possession of a classic. This is a
corker!
