Actually since the Siberian high pressure center went west to Moscow instead
of east to Alaska we should experience warmer weather (as a general rule).
It doesn't mean we couldn't get snow, though. I remember those days when
the "Russian Highs" would park over Fairbanks and the temperature would
plummet to -60 (F) and stay there for weeks at a time. Brrrrr! And yet the
chickadees survived! We used to put out the Thanksgiving goose carcass and
the Boreals and Black-cappeds would pick it clean. One year a fox jumped up
on the porch rail and stole the whole darn thing.
