Hello Tweeters,

I am a birder from Texas who is going to visit (and bird) the state
(and BC) in the week of about February 19-25. Last year, I had a
large list of birds that I wanted, and fortunately for me, with help
from a lot of Tweeters I got many of them. UNfortunately, after
reading Hal Opperman's ABA Bird Finding Guide to Washington, I have a
whole new list of things to see, this time with much more difficult
birds. If anyone could send me any stuff about the species on my
list, that would be really great. Here is the list:

Red-breasted Sapsucker
Rock Sandpiper
Surfbird
Black Turnstone
Northern Saw-Whet Owl
Greater Scaup
Grouse (Ruffed and/or Blue)
Townsend's Warbler
Sky Lark (BC)
Snow Bunting
Fox Sparrow
Purple Finch
Evening Grosbeak
Three-toed Woodpecker
Red Crossbill
Rhino Auklet
Red Phalarope (is Feb. too late?)
Snowy Owl (is there anywhere specific, or should I just look
everywhere?)
I know these are particularly tough, but any info would be helpful:
Gyrfalcon
Tufted Duck
Yellow-billed Loon
American Tree Sparrow
Cassin's Auklet and Ancient Murrelet (I saw these two were on the
Port Angeles - Victoria ferry CBC; any chance in Feb?)
Northern Spotted Owl

I know that some of these species are easier to find in E.
Washington, but my trip is only to the Olympic Peninsula, southern
Vancouver Isl. Vancouver, and Puget Sound areas. Like I said earlier,
I already have Opperman's Bird Finding Guide to Washington, so just
naming good areas would be great too. All help would be greatly
appreciated.
