Regarding books and lists for birding in Baja, there is not a guide book
that covers the peninsula as far as I know. However, the ABA published a
monograph that provides a good list as well as some interesting papers --
Birds of the Baja Peninsula: Status, Distribution, and Taxonomy (Monographs
in Field Ornithology, No. 3) by Richard A. Erickson (Editor), Steve N. G.
Howell (Editor) (Paperback - June 2001). ABA no longer has any copies, but
I was able to get a copy from Amazon some months back. For my trips to the
peninsula, I general take the Sibley Guide to birds as well as Howell and
Webb's "AGuide to the birds of Mexico and Northern Central America. I hope
