If there's a lovelier sight in the dog days of summer than a flock of
goldfinches roller coastering over a sunlit field, I sure haven't seen it.
The only goldfinch story to come to mind is that last year we had 1 visit
the nesting material we put out each breeding season. It was fun watching
it fly off with a face full of white "whiskers".
Goldfinches are always surprising to me; I have to relearn the song each
year even though it's common and I've heard it a zillion times. Those of you
who keep county lists must have seen them nearly everywhere in the state.
