The best way to deal with high-volume email lists is to direct the mail to
its own folder as it arrives.

If you use Microsoft Outlook:

On the main menu, click Tools. Select Rules and Alerts.

In Rules and alerts, click on the E-mail Rules tab.

Click New Rule...

>From there, follow the instructions, starting with

"Move messages with specific words in the subject to a folder"

Set up a folder so that messages with "tweeters" in the subject are
automatically sent there. That way, if you don't have time to read the
tweeters email, you can ignore it until later or go to the tweeters folder
and delete all the messages at once.

I belong to several e-mail lists. Tweeters is a LOW-volume list compared to
my poodle list. However, all my list e-mail is sorted into different
folders as it comes in, so it's not a problem.

If you have something other than Outlook, it will have a similar way to sort
e-mail.
