Tweeters,

My wife and I birded Crockett Lake this morning - lots of raptors and ducks.
What surprised me was a common murre swimming with the pintails in the
brackish Crockett Lake. We watched it for about 15 minutes. During this
time, it repeatedly bathed and preened and seemed quite vigorous. How common
is it for murres to appear in anything but salt water?

Also, the abandoned pier just east of the Keystone boat launch is a good
place to compare and contrast all three types of local cormorants. They all
sit right next to one another quite peacefully.
