This morning at about 9:45 just after a fairly intense snow flurry I had a
Grey Jay come to my feeders - he was loosely associating with 3 Stellars.
All of the birds were very vocal. I live at only about 800' elevation on
Cougar Mtn (King County) - this is the 3rd time I've seen a Grey Jay on the
mountain in the 18 years I've lived at this and 3 other houses within a few
miles of here. It was a pleasant surprise.

About 1:30 the sun came out for a few minutes - after a morning of snow,
hail, thunder and lightening and intense rain - the birds really seemed to
enjoy it. I had a Coopers Hawk in a snag across the street preening and
stretching her wings and tail to give great views. A group of about 100
robins, 10 varied thrushes, a few starlings, and 3 flickers come through the
yard scratching through the mulch and leaves and pulling up a lot of big fat
earthworms. I also had Downy, Hairy, and Pileated woodpeckers at the
feeder, all within 15 minutes of each other.

Spring must be coming - I can hear the Redwing Blackbirds singing in the
wetland down the street.
