Hi all,

Delia?s case of cabin fever finally outvoted the rain yesterday so in the afternoon we headed down towards Kent. A SCRUB JAY was bathing with Starlings at the Michigan on-ramp to I-5. A big flock of CACKLING CANADA GEESE was at a field at 204 St S where we ran into a birder named Mark, which was to prove fortuitous. We scanned many ducks looking north and south from 204th, along with two other birders, but the glare looking south was too much. Lots of Pintails and some Ring Necked Ducks but apparently no one ever saw a Tufted Duck. A Sharp Shinned Hawk flew over.

Mark then led us to the construction site north of 212th St. where he easily found the ICELAND GULL that we weren?t aware of. Nice to get Lifebirds. An adult WESTERN GULL was also loitering there. On the way to the site we all noticed a CALIFORNIA SEA LION in the Duwamish?Kent being as far inland as I?ve seen them. Last we went up to the Boeing Ponds where a Red Winged Blackbird was singing, with many ducks including HOODED MERGANSER & COMMON MERGANSER and we inadvertently flushed a GREEN HERON, which capped off the day!
