We spent the weekend poking around the Gifford Burn near Kettle Falls and looking for birds near Rearden and Davenport this weekend. Had excellent guides in Tom Munson and Gary Kuiper, which was very much appreciated.
The Gifford Burn is loaded with woodpeckers. We saw Hairy, Downy, Black-backed, White-headed and Pileated all within an hour or so. Lots of black-backed posing nicely.
We found three snowy owls in quick succession on Friday, but could not locate any on Saturday or Sunday. We found a small flock of American Tree Sparrows, who did not want to pose, but kept flying off. Nonetheless, I got one when we wasn't paying attention.
Lovely weekend in the Spokane Area with rain, snow and sunshine in quick succession. Normal Eastern Wash. weather.
