Hi all,

Just a note to say that this morning I observed several Townsend?s Warblers
flitting around, feeding on and near the ground today. Such bright little
gems of yellow and black on such a sere and gray day were a completely
unexpected pleasure.

At any rate, I am on the south west slope of Tiger mountain in the
Mirrormont area. In five years at this location, I?ve not seen this species
here before. I?m curious if the massive snows just slightly to the west have
chased them down in elevation a bit for feeding. Any thoughts on that?

Also the birding books seem to somewhat in disagreement ? some seem to say
these little guys prefer to hang out in the tops of mature Douglas Fir
stands, others say Cedar stands. Today?s specimens were feeding on the
ground. Any definitive facts on habitat, preferred or otherwise?
