Heads up to all birders who want a spectacle.
It is post waterfowl season by one day. The Johnson/DeBay Swan Reserve corn
is being pushed down starting today and for a few days to come -- most of
the Reserve was planted to corn this year. This means that by the weekend
it will be heavily used, likely by more than 1,000 swans, tens of thousands
of ducks and the attendant raptor including multiple bald eagles, redtails,
roughleggeds, merlin, and more.
Please note that you may go into the reserve parking area even if the
gates are closed. We are trying to get enough volunteers to open the gates
each day, but for sure on the weekends. If the gates are locked, park in
the outer lot and walk in. Do not block the road or gate area.

Enjoy, enjoy.
