Hello all,
Birded the west end of the county today in bright sunshine and high winds.
Found species #100 - #104 for the county year list - and January is not over
yet!
Highlights include:
Eurasian Wigeon - 1 drake on the Walla Walla River delta
Dunlin - 10 birds on the Walla Walla delta
Ruddy Duck - at McNary NWR display pond
Greater Scaup - " "
Snow Goose - in field just north of display pond in a flock of 4000 Canada
geese.
also:
Glaucous Gulls - 6 birds, 2 adults on poop piles
Bald Eagle - 7 birds
Tundra Swan - 8 birds on Casey pond
American Coot - 4300 birds on Casey pond
Canvasback - 400 birds off the Wallula barge slip (just south of the delta)
One more note- Robins have returned to the Walla Walla valley - over 2000 in
one flock! And the crocus are blooming.
Later, MerryLynn
