On Sunday, driving to Sunnyside on the Yakima Valley Highway near the
Muffett & Sons fence company, near Buena, Ron & I saw a very unusual sight.
There was a recently road killed cat right at the edge of the road and a
hawk was eating it. We drove by and quickly turned around to see what kind of
hawk it was. We stayed back at first and kept getting closer. It was an
immature Red-tailed Hawk. We slowly passed it and turned around again and got right
next to it. It spread it's wings out like it thought we might take his meal
away. It looked liked it was healthy, but I couldn't really tell. It sure was
hungry.
Has anyone seen a Red-tailed Hawk eat carrion before?
