I agree with Phil's analysis that the bird in the photos is a Glaucous Gull.The photos and verbal description indicate a bird about the same size as a Glaucous - Winged Gull, whereas an Iceland Gull will be noticeably smaller, with a more petite bill. The expected Iceland Gull on the west coast is the Kumlien's type, which normally shows some darker colour in the primaries as well. These photos are excellent and should leave no doubt to this gull's identity. I don't know if there is another white winged gull in the same area. Mike Tabak Vancouver B.C.
