D. Brown saw a red-tail eating a road killed cat. I once spooked up a great
horned owl off the ground. I was surprised and enjoyed viewing the owl as it
perched for a moment after flying up into a nearby tree. As I walked away I
wondered, why was the owl on the ground? I returned to the scene and found
the neigbbors teenage cat, quite freshly dead, on the ground. A few minutes
later I decided to move the cat out of the bushes out onto the road edge so
the neigbbors who owned the cat might find it. When I returned to the spot,
the cat was gone. I assumed the owl had returned, picked it up and carried
it further into the wood to eat in private. Or maybe cats really do have
nine lives......
