feeders in the Nanaimo to Qualicum Beach area. Watch your feeders--you may
be pleasantly surprised!

Tuesday January 31: 2006
"RARE BIRD ALERT"
A BRAMBLING was seen in the 4800 block of the Cowichan Lake Road in Duncan.
Over twenty PINE GROSBEAKS were visiting feeders in the 800 block of Douglas
Avenue in Nanaimo.
A HERMIT THRUSH and a TOWNSEND'S WARBLER were seen at feeders along
Honeysuckle Terrace in central Nanaimo.
Two TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS are coming to feeders along Labieux Road in Nanaimo.

Monday January 30:
ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS are visiting feeders in the 3600 block of Elginwood in
Nanoose Bay.
A pair of ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS are coming to feeders in the 4800 block of
Fillinger Crescent in Nanaimo.

Saturday January 28:
A SNOWY OWL, a NORTHERN SHRIKE and a SHORT-EARED OWL were spotted at the
Nanaimo River Estuary in south Nanaimo.
Twenty VARIED THRUSH were seen in the 1100 block of Stymie Close in Qualicum
Beach.
ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS were seen at the Department of National Defence property
in Nanoose Bay.

FRIDAY JANUARY 27:
A PILEATED WOODPECKER was seen feeding on a old tree at Colliery Dam Park in
Nanaimo.

Thursday January 26:
A WESTERN MEADOWLARK was seen in the 500 block of Vancouver Avenue in
Nanaimo.

Wednesday January 25:
A VARIED THRUSH was visiting a yard in the 2500 block of Glenayr Drive in
Nanaimo.
Six BAND-TAILED PIGEONS, two TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS, a RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET,
CALIFORNIA QUAIL, a BROWN CREEPER, a BEWICK'S WREN, RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH,
CHESTNUT-BACKED CHICKADEES, DARK-EYED JUNCOS, SONG SPARROWS and SPOTTED
TOWHEES are coming to feeders in the 1100 block of Stymie Close in Qualicum
Beach.

Tuesday January 24, 2006:
Two BARRED OWLS were spotted in the woods near Butler and Hamilton in
Parksville.
