Hi Tweets:
This summer we had 2 pairs of Rufous Hummers who raised 4 young ones and brought them to the feeders. As of the 18-19th of June the males turned up missing. This is a week earlier then 2005 and 2004. Males generally leave about the first of July and momma and the kids leave three weeks later. Been like that for 30 years according to our record books ! But no, they are G-O-N-E ! Glad to hear of the ones in Discovery Park.
Planting Agastache, Crocosmia etc for them was wasted time as it is just starting to bloom but sure they enjoyed the Lupine and Lavender. Couple days ago a immature came in the yard and went around to the flowers but not to the feeder. Another year gone I guess.
The young eagles are showing in the nest by our famous hiking trail along the water front. Thank goodness the nest is over and off the trail where people can't go pounding on the tree. We watch them with a scope from our house up on D Street.

Happy 4th to all you Birders.
