Hi Tweeters,

Inspired by Connie's post about Least Sandpiper at the
fill I decided to check out Boeing Ponds this morning.
I saw about 10 Least Sandpipers in the southeast
corner mudflat. Also Kildeer and the cutest tiny
fluffball Spotted Sandpiper at this spot. Back
towards the road, on the northeast corner was two
beautiful shorebirds still sporting breeding plumage,
a Long-billed Dowitcher, and a Lesser Yellowlegs. The
Lesser threw me off a bit as it's bill seemed a little
upturned but it was in the running sizewise with the
Dowitcher, and smaller bodied. The bill was not
overly long either, so I'm calling it a Lesser.

I also briefly stopped at the Lynn Schultz "pond" off
of 216th, near Riverview Rd. It looks like nothing
from the road, just a chainlink fenced off
construction area. There is still water here. I was
in a hurry so didn't get to check very well. Best
birds were perched on the fence, at least 3 Spotted
Sandpipers, many White-crowned Sparrows with a few
Savannahs and best of all two very young Red-tailed
Hawks perched on the far side. I think they were
awaiting further instructions from parents, they
didn't seem too interested in their surroundings.
Also heard a California Quail calling nearby.

Boeing Ponds is accessed off of 212th, (Orillia exit
from I-5). Turn north at the stoplight at the KOA
campground and the ponds are at the big elbow in the
road. I like to park where the barricades are on the
east side. Be forewarned though that sometimes Boeing
Security will ask you to leave. I had no trouble this
am.
