Happy Fourth of July! If you?re out birding, I
hope you see good stuff, especially a turkey
vulture or two. Won?t be long until their young
are fledged, so if you see vultures with dark
(not red) heads, that?s them. Following is the
report for Washington and British Columbia for June, 2006:

04 ? (?) at Legacy Marsh, B.C.; 3 at Grant
Narrows Regional Park, B.C.; 12 in Pitt Meadows, B.C.
06 ? 1 over Avondale Road, Redmond
07 ? 1 over Swan-E-Set golfcourse, Pitt Meadows, B.C.; 1 near Spokane
10 ? 1 at Roy; 1 soaring over Littlerock; 3 in southern Lewis County
11 ? 15 along Rannie Road, Pitt Meadows, B.C.; 1 north of Chewelah
12 ? 1 at Dry Falls Dam
15 ? 1 cruising high over the Fremont area
16 ? 5 northwest of Fall City (one eating grass!); 1 over Northgate area
18 ? 1 flying east over Littlerock; (?) at Linley
Valley, B.C.; 1 soaring over Kelly Butte; (?) at Nanoose Bay, B.C.
21 ? 1 over Anacortes; (?) at Umtanum Falls parking lot
22 ? 9 over Port Angeles headed northwest
25 ? 3 over the Brady Loop Road; 3 between Elma
and Satsop; 1 north of Ocean Shores; 3 over
Stanwood; 1 soaring high east of Sequim; 1 at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary
27 ? (?) in Parksville, B.C.
29 ? 3 high over Maple Ridge; (?) in Parksville, B.C.
30 ? 6 circling a high ridge near Alder Lake southwest of Eatonville

Thanks for all of the sightings. As usual, a (?)
means no number was given. This doesn?t really
matter if there is just one bird, but it would be
nice to know if there were a large number.
