Shorebirds are beginning to show up in the basin finally. Even though the
water level is less than optimum, this morning we had 30+ Westerns at Perch
Point. This in spite of the horrific pile of homo sapiens reveling in the
sun and celebrating the 4th. Also present were several Clark's Grebes and a
single Western Grebe. Nice views of Great Egret too. The water level on
Potholes Reservoir is falling very rapidly and there should be prime habitat
for shorebirds very soon, probably by the end of the week as the level is
coming down 6" per day.

At the Dodson Road Rest Stop STP were 5 more Western Sandpipers, 2
Black-neck Stilts, 6 or more American Avocet, and 10-15 Least Sandpipers.
