There are several potentially negative environmental impacts from fireworks,
both home, illegal and commercial. The list of chemicals in these things
(Mostly made in china) makes one wonder about what breathing that sulfur
laden smoke does to the body. When these things end up in the water, what
kinds of impact does it have on that environment? The streets are full today
of the burnt remains of chemical crud. The next big rain all that washes
into Puget Sound and elsewhere. Somehow I just don't believe this chemical
release is environmentally without harm.

I wonder if anybody is doing chemical monitoring and if so, what they see. I
wonder if anybody, EPA, etc tests health affects on smoke and water
immersion of the chemicals in these fireworks? I wonder if anybody tests the
cumulative affect of thousands of such things all occuring at one point in
time? The 4th of July might very well just be a huge, annual, toxic
chemical dump on the water and air of America.
