I spent the morning working on my Kittitas Co. list, starting at Vantage
where I saw the BLACK-THROATED SPARROW in the previously reported area near
the State Park. There were also numerous LARK SPARROWS in this location.

I proceeded from there along the Old Vantage Hwy. where I found a NORTHERN
MOCKINGBIRD singing from the powerlines along the road at milepost 26. There
was quite a show when a LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE decided this was too close to it's
territory and chased the NOMB into the sage. Also saw several MOUNTAIN
BLUEBIRDS feeding their young along this Rd.

At the Elk Heights burn I found several BLACK-BACKED WOODPECKERS including
begging youngsters. The burn also had WESTERN BLUEBIRDS, HAIRY WOODPECKER,
BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE, BLACK-HEADED GROSBEAK, and a fly over of 5-6 BLACK
SWIFTS.
